5 Common Adsense Myths

I love being a myth buster especially in blogging,and today our topic is about common Adsense myths that bloggers should know. Here, I will explain the myths that confused some blogger about making money with Adsense.

I remember 2 years ago when I was browsing on the Internet on how to get your account approved by Adsense, Instead of finding the right article, I keep seeing these testimonials on making money with Adsense. The hype inspires me to work on applying to make money on Adsense, but after my account was approved, I was kinda disappointed because it is not as easy as it looks. If you want to make money with Adsense you need a lot of work to do. So here are common Adsense myths every blogger must know.

Myth #1. Adsense can make you rich quick

As I have stated in the past, there is no such thing as easy money, and Adsense will not make you a millionaire in an instant. The truth is, there is only a small percentage of bloggers that actually make money from their blog site. It is definitely possible to make some money from Google Adsense Ad units but bear in mind that making money from your blog is commensurate with many factors such as types of advertising, placement of advertising, quality of your content, regular posting, number of articles, SEO, backlinks to your site, number of visitors to your blog to name just a few. You must be consistent on posting your articles on a daily basis. Earning potentials can be based on the number of traffics, the more you have visitors the more chances you make money with Adsense.

Myth #2. Putting more ads the more you earn money 

This is false. Most bloggers believe that putting a lot of ads will have a higher chance of earning but the truth is, it might reduce your change of earning. There is a risk that the highest performing Ad units will shift to positions that are less frequently clicked on. If you put on a lot of ads on your site, a savvy visitor will instantly recognize an ad space and will try avoiding it.

Myth #3. Placement of Google Adsense doesn't matter

Actually it does. The placement of ads is very critical if you want to earn more revenue. If you wrongly place an ads, chances are it will not be seen by visitors and will have a lower chance being clicked, but placing it or covering your site with ads will not also earn you more revenue because a visitor did not came into your site to click on your ads. There are ways to put on your ads to make it look professional or blend it on your template, one of the most effective is putting it on the top fold so that visitors can easily see your ads without bothering your visitors while they read .

Myth#4. More traffic means higher earnings

Not exactly, It depends on your blog content. Lets say you blog about poems, you get a lot of comments and visitors, but your adsense revenue is not growing, probably the reason is that niche is not friendly to advertisers. If you are blogging just about anything under the sun, chances of earning a lot from Adsense is very low. You must be specific about a certain topic and it must be a profitable topic.

Myth #5. Google Adsense is the best way to make money

Not necessarily. It is true that Adsense can make you rich, but not every blogger earn a lot from it. Based on facts there are 95% of bloggers making money with Adsense earns just under $30 in one year. Darren Rose of problogger.net, says that he makes a lot of bucks from Adsense, but he made more money with affiliate marketing and currently stopped using Adsense. Most pro bloggers recommends Adsense as the option to make money for beginners, but when you become experienced, blending it with affiliate marketing and other ways to make money will surely skyrocket your income. How Google detect invalid clicks

Most Adsense publisher knows that Google can detect invalid clicks and we all know that the punishment for having invalid clicks is immediate termination of your Adsense account. In today's topic I will share how Google catches someone who tries to cheat his Adsense earnings by doing some invalid clicks.

Beware and try avoiding this. If Google caught you, they will give a warning but sometimes they don't,  so here are the ways Google detects invalid clicks.

1. IP Address

This is the easiest to be recognized. If you are clicking ads that originated from the same IP address then Google will flag your account. Only stupid publishers will do this, because it is the most obvious way to get caught cheating.

2. Click Through Rate ( CTR )

Usually, Click through rate does not exceed 10%. If it does exceed, then the red flag is on you. Having higher that 10% is very suspicious for Google.

3. Cookies

No, this is not the crunchy biscuits. In the old days, we have this Blast Internet card, it is a dial up Internet connection and has no static IP address, you just connect and disconnect you can have a new IP address. If you plan on doing this, think again. Google has set cookies on your computer. They can trace these cookies and see whether they originate from the same computer.

4. Physical Location

Google is really good at tracing invalid clicks, even if you try switching from one computer cafe to another they will still caught you cheating. They are good with tracing traffic origins even if you live in a small town. Google has a very good tracing software and technology.

5. Click Pattern

These are some of the click patters that most cheaters do.

• Click and run. These are the clickers that click on your ads then run away, this are suspicious because most visitors or readers doesn't visit your site to click ads, they usually stay and surf for a while
• If the clicker is keep on clicking the same website with the same ads but never clicked on other advertisements.

6. Suspicious Search Engine Ranking

If this website is not indexed by search engines, has no backlinks on any prominent sites, but consistently get high traffic, then it must be suspicious and Google will smell a rat on these sites. Usually this is operated by clicking syndicates operating from third world countries. Their job is to click on ads to a specific site.

7. Web design

Those sites using "click this" on their advertisements are against Google's TOS. If you want to publish ads you should not lure visitors into clicking your own ads.

Insert Adsense Inside blogger post body

If you want to earn more through adsense, you need to put your ads where it is very visible. One of the best way to do that is inserting the ads inside your posts body because it will give you higher chance of click through rate and increase adsense earnings. 

I prefer a 300x250 medium rectangle or a 336x280 large rectangle ad unit to be wrapped inside your blog post. In this trick, your ads will be appearing just like an image in a blog post. Just follow these simple steps and don't forget to back up your template in case you made some mistakes.

Installation

1. Log in to your adsense account and create a 300x250 ad unit or a 336x280 large rectangle ad unit, then save and get codes

2. Copy and paste the generated code below to parse it.
  

3. Click on convert.

4. Go to your blogger dashboard > edit template > tick on expand widgets

5. Find this code using CTRL+F <data:post.body/> (Note: some templates has more than 1 of this code, just try them all in case it doesn't work)

6. Just above it paste this code

Note

Now your adsense can now be seen wrapped around your blogger post on the left side. But those ads won't appear on your home page and will only be visible if you click on your blog posts. This trick can save you ad space on your sidebar.

But I will not advice to use this trick if you are using pictures or images at the beginning of your blog posts because it will violate Google adsense terms of service

Aloha! today I will share to you some Adsense techniques that will help you earn more money. One of the best way to put your Adsense ads is putting it below post titles, but in this lesson we will add more, we add "add this" social sharing widget next to your Adsense ads. I found this trick on www.abctrick.net.

Before we begin the installation, I need you to go to your Adsense account and create a new 300x250 blocks ads that will perfectly blend with your template. After creating your new ads, save and get code, then copy and paste the code on this HTML parser.

Installation

1. Log into your blogger account> dashboard> click edit HTML (make sure you back up your template in case you made some mistakes)> click on expand widgets.

Note: The more expensive the niche the more competitive the niche. You will have a hard time reaching page 1 on search engine if you build your blog niche under these expensive keywords. 

 I suggest you look for low competition profitable blog niche you can do that by using Google adwords and filter the low competitions keywords and select that are related to your topic.
